Lincoln Hills, Colorado | August 2026
The Martha’s Vineyard of the West
In 1922, while much of America told Black people where they couldn't go, Lincoln Hills said welcome home. Tucked into the Colorado Rockies just 40 miles from Denver, it was the only Black-owned mountain resort west of the Mississippi - a special place where Langston Hughes, Zora Neale Hurston, Duke Ellington, and Black families from across the country came to exhale, create, and be completely, unapologetically free.
A whole mountain. All theirs. All ours.
Now, we're bringing that legacy back to life - and you're invited.
Over four days, the family of Lincoln Hills Decedents invite you to “Heritage Weekend”. Over the weekend, we will live the way our founders' ancestors did - out in the wild, rooted in the land, and connected to something much bigger than ourselves.
TELA was founded on the belief that connection is the most powerful thing we possess — connection to the land, to community, and to our roots. As the Founder of TELA, my great-grandparents found freedom in these mountains and now our family owns the land to roam free. I built this space so you can too.
